The Evening Box

A scent-led box built around real attar, not the drugstore kind. Pick the fragrance, and we’ll handle sourcing the rest.

It takes roughly ten thousand rose petals to make one gram of real attar. Which is why a small brown glass vial of it makes people pause, and then behave as though they have always understood luxury.

Add a hammered brass bowl that refuses to be ignored on any table, and an embroidered potli so beautiful it actively discourages practical use, and you have a box that asks people to slow down. Or at least to pretend to.

This is less a return gift and more main character energy in a box.

The rose attar above is the starting point, not the only option — here are classic Indian attars we can source instead:

  • Rose (Ruh Gulab) — the classic, and the one most guests expect
  • Jasmine (Mogra) — sweet and heady, a monsoon-evening scent
  • Sandalwood (Chandan) — woody and calm, centuries deep in Indian ritual
  • Saffron (Kesar) — warm and spiced, expensive-smelling on purpose
  • Oudh — smoky and resinous, the one guests will ask about
  • Musk (Kasturi) — deep and skin-warm, the base note in half of Indian perfumery
  • Vetiver (Khus) — green and cooling
  • Marigold (Genda) — bright and slightly spiced, unmistakably festival
  • Kewda (Pandanus) — sharp and green, nothing like a Western perfume counter
  • Mitti — the actual scent of first rain hitting dry earth

You can also add a stick of incense to the box. Fragrance and any add-ons change the price — see below.

Contains: Hammered brass bowl · rose attar rollerball vial · embroidered silk potli bag

What to actually keep in the potli: unknown. Emotions? Jewellery? Snacks? We don’t judge.

$25–35 landed, depending on fragrance and whether you add incense.

Treat this number as a starting point, not a locked quote. Fragrance, incense, and what you choose all move the number. We’ll confirm the real one once we know what you’re building.

Minimum 100 boxes. Curated, packed and shipped from India.

These photos show a few of the fragrance and styling options above. Any props styled alongside the box are not included — you receive the box and the items you choose.

We haven’t made this exact box yet, so the picture above is an illustration rather than a photograph. Everything in it we can source. And since all of it is handmade, no two ever come out quite the same anyway. Take it as the idea, not the object.
